THE CHALLENGE
Our planet is warming - up by 1.1°C due to human activities, impacting health, food, and water resources globally. Ironically, those least responsible for this crisis bear its heaviest burdens. We're at a pivotal moment: urgent action is needed to lower emissions, adapt to changes, and seek equitable solutions.
OUR MISSION
Aerocene is a movement for eco-social justice, adrift on air, floating free from fossil fuels, towards an ethical re-alliance with the spheres of atmos, bios and cosmos relation. Rooted in slower activism and weather-dependent interdependency, the project emerges as a platform for uniting the shared interests of environmental justice, human rights, and political economy.
OUR IMPACT
Since 2007, Aerocene has been imagining new ways to move, live, and relate, without fossil fuels, without borders, and without harm.
With 218 solar-powered flights, including 13 historic human flights, and over 13,000 minutes in the air completely emission-free, our community has risen together in 158 locations, across 37 countries and 6 continents.
Our aerosolar sculptures fly using only the energy of the Sun, carried by the air. Each flight becomes a poetic and political gesture in response to the climate emergency.
So far, we have shared our open-source tools with over 200,000 people worldwide, both online and on the ground. Together with Museo Aero Solar communities, we’ve recycled more than 69,500 plastic bags, transforming plastic into a new mind expanding material.
In 2020, Aerocene stood alongside the Indigenous communities of Salinas Grandes in northern Argentina, supporting their resistance against lithium extraction on their ancestral lands.
That same year, the Fly with Aerocene Pacha flight achieved 32 world records, setting a new standard for sustainable flight.

- €500 subsidizes the loan of an Aerocene Backpack to a school, artist, or community for one month, advocating for climate justice.
- €2,000 supports the construction of a new Aerocene Backpack for shared use, expanding access to our solar sculptures through the global Aerocene Backpack Program.
- €10,000 enables the ongoing development of the Aerocene App & Community Database, supporting the connection of a global network of climate activists.
- €20,000 supports the continuation of Fly with Aerocene Pacha: a collaborative documentary and activism against harmful lithium mining involving indigenous communities from the Global South.
