AEROCENE
Fly around the world free from fossil fuel

Is it possible to circumnavigate the world, using no other resource than the sun?
In 2012, Visiting Artist at the MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology (CAST), Tomás
Saraceno, posed this question to meteorologist Lodovica Illari at the MIT Department of
Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS). In 2015, the Aerocene – Float Predictor emerged as a collaborative navigational tool developed by the Aerocene Foundation that invites us to shape a period of time, a new epoch.
Aerocene - Float Predictor App

The Aerocene App (2020) is developed by the Aerocene Foundation in collaboration with Studio Tomás Saraceno

Aerocene is...
A worldwide interdisciplinary community that seeks to devise new modes of sensitivity, reactivating a common imaginary towards an ethical collaboration with the environment and the atmosphere, free from borders, free from fossil fuels, towards a new epoch.
MUSEO AERO SOLAR
collect, reuse and fly with a plastic bag

Aerocene emerged through Museo Aero Solar in 2007, a community practice forming through cooperation and the simple acts of reusing plastic bags. A flying museum, an aerosolar sculpture, for and of collaborative endeavours, Museo Aero Solar continues to float around the Planet. Where will it land next?
AEROCENE BACKPACK
a kit that teaches you how to float

The Aerocene Backpack is a starter kit that offers a new way to move and sense the air, using only the heat from the Sun.
The Aerosolar sculpture enclosed in the portable backpack is everything you need to float without burning fossil fuels, helium, and other rare gases.
